1. Luxuriously Soft & Comfortable

Merino fibres are approximately 10 times thinner than human hair. This means they are much more flexible than other wool fibres, making merino exceptionally soft and comfortable with an amazing weight to warmth ratio. Our Extrafine Merino knitwear can be worn against the skin without any irritation unlike other wool. It is especially good for babies who suffer from eczema or allergies due to Merino’s anti-static-properties, which means it picks up less dust and other allergens from the air.

2. Total Easycare – Machine Washable At 40 Degrees

The natural protective layers on Merino fibres mean it is naturally resistant to stains and odour, so can be washed less frequently than other materials. Most of our Scarlet Ribbon Merino knitwear can be machine washed at up to 40 degrees and is shrink resistant but some styles cannot be machine washed so always be sure to check the label first. Our knitwear can even be tumble dried on a low heat which is huge plus for busy mums! For detailed information about how to care for your Merino click here

3. Natural breathability and temperature control

When worn against the skin Merino wool creates a microclimate that changes according to the outside temperature, keeping baby warm in winter and cool in summer. This makes Merino the perfect choice for dressing babies and small children as they have difficulty regulating their body temperature. Woolmark has done extensive research to support the fact that Merino wool helps improve sleep patterns among infants, given its ability to regulate temperature and maximise comfort while sleeping. 4. Durable, Long Lasting and Newer For Longer

While incredibly soft, Merino wool is very hard-wearing. This can be attributed to its characteristically fine, yet long and strong fibres (Merino fibres can be bent 30,000 times without breaking). Merino remains soft wash after wash, wear after wear, and is much less likely to pill/bobble than ordinary wool. The natural elasticity of Merino means your Scarlet Ribbon Merino knitwear will stretch with each wear but then return to its natural shape. Merino stays looking newer and smarter for longer, withstanding everyday wear from your first to last born.

5. Sustainable & Environmentally Friendly

Merino wool is 100% natural fibre, originating from a specific breed of sheep whose diet is a simple blend of water, air, sunshine and grass. The fleece of the merino sheep is shorn once or twice a year and simply grows back, making it a renewable and sustainable natural resource. It is also completely biodegradable.

6. The Safe Choice For Your Baby

Merino wool has unique fire and UV resistant properties, making it the safe choice for dressing your treasured little ones. Merino is naturally flame resistant and self-extinguishing due to it's relatively high moisture content and it is proven to absorb UV radiation.

7. Naturally Antibacterial & Odour Repelling

Merino has unique antibacterial properties which mean that it is able to absorb odours without smelling.
